Ivan Aivazovsky painted The Ninth Wave in 1850, his most famous seascape: after a night of storm, a few shipwrecked sailors cling to a broken mast among giant waves, while the rising sun breaks through the clouds and lays a golden path of light across the sea. This multilayer design by Decorartes is based on that public-domain painting and made for laser cutting.
It is built from 5 layers of 3 mm wood: black on top, then deep blue, turquoise and orange, over a solid yellow backing. Each deeper layer shows through the cut-outs of the layers above, so the rising sun, the wave crests and the path of light glow with real depth. Every layer is one single connected piece, and all layers share the same outer frame and the same edges, so they line up exactly when glued and no color peeks out between them.
At 300 x 200 mm, or roughly 11.8 by 7.9 inches, it fits standard laser beds. You may enlarge it freely, scaling all five layers by the same amount, but should not cut it smaller, because its finest lines are 1.3 mm wide.
The ZIP includes every layer as SVG, DXF, DWG, AI, PDF and EPS, an assembled preview with the five colored layers stacked, an alignment check file, preview images and a README with the colors and the assembly steps.
