DROP SHADOW TIPS

I have not included any drop shadows to allow you to have more control over your own settings and depending which background you choose to work with (light or dark), you will have to adjust each opacity setting anyway.
To add drop shadows in Photoshop, right click on that layer and hit blending options, and select drop shadows on the bottom left. To apply that same drop shadow effect in each object layer, when you are finished applying your effect, right click on that layer again, hit “Copy Layer Style”, then go to another object layer and hit “Paste Layer Style”. You can do this for multiple layers at the same time.
My tip is not to overdo drop shadows in Distance, Size and Spread in the drop shadow settings. For example, a pen has a different drop shadow depth than a plant. So make sure that the Distance, Size and Spread in the pen is significantly lower than the plant. You can apply the same drop shadow effect to objects that have roughly the same depth so you can save time on this rather than going through each individual setting. And remember to not make the shadows too harsh.
And again, taking your time to do proper drop shadowing will ensure that you have a realistic looking Flat Lay and not a copy and paste job with objects that look wierd and floating due to incorrect drop shadow applications! 🙂
