Best Camera Settings For This Style
I would recommend using the lowest settings possible, preferably selecting a lens that supports f/1.4-f/2.0. My most common setting for the images above are f/1.4, ISO 200. All of these images were shot with a Nikon d750 and an 85mm lens, at 1.4. I also underexpose all images by 2 stops to preserve the highlights when editing in Lightroom. This also allows the color and contrast, to really make your subjects pop off the background, which makes stunning portraits, especially for a bride and groom!
EDITING TIPS
Your camera model, camera settings, locations, and lighting all play a major part in your final pictures! They might require a few personal tweaks, such as adjusting exposure or white balance to fit your individual needs. This is very dependent on how your camera reads light and color, so you may need to make adjustments to fit your camera model and lens selections. This is the nature of presets and is completely normal 🙂
The way you position your subject in regards to your light source is key to achieve this dreamy, light and bright look for your edits. Most of my subjects are always backlit, and placed in a clean light source. It is best to avoid color casts on your subjects, in order to help achieve dreamy and warm skin tones for your portraits. This will also help your bridal portraits retain the whites in their bridal gowns, and to have “glowy” skin that your brides and clients will love.
